
Laura M. Slot is an independent historian and writer with a focus on outsiders in twentieth century intellectual history, the history of ideas. She is the founder of Old Revolutions Press, a publishing house focused on postmaterialist, non-physicalist historiography.
Slot received graduate degrees from Columbia University (Journalism) in New York and Utrecht University (History of International Relations) in The Netherlands. An in-depth master thesis on the limits of philosopher Bertrand Russell’s pacifism was published as a book in 2007. Her second book, Postmaterialist Historiography, will be published Fall 2026.
Laura’s writings have appeared in Dutch and American newspapers and magazines and she has occasionally given news commentary in her native country The Netherlands. She has previously worked in linguistics for European and American book- and magazine publishers, lawyers and technology companies.
Her languages are Dutch, English, Venloos, some German and some Turkish.
