Laura M. Slot is an independent historian and writer with a focus on outsiders in twentieth century intellectual history, the history of ideas. She founded Old Revolutions Press in 2025, a publishing house focused on postmaterialist historiography.

She received graduate degrees from Columbia University (Journalism) and Utrecht University (History of International Relations). An in-depth master thesis on the limits of philosopher Bertrand Russell’s pacifism was published as a book in 2007. Her second book Postmaterialist Historiography will be published Fall 2026.

Laura’s writings have appeared in Dutch and American newspapers and magazines and she has occasionally given news commentary in her native country The Netherlands. She has previously worked in linguistics for book- and magazine publishers, lawyers and technology companies, both on the US East Coast and in The Netherlands.
